I have been riding horses since I was 8 years old. I have had some really wonderful experiences through horses: clinics, instructors, other horse people, community organizations, trail rides, cattle drives and am very grateful for the chance to do what I love. In 2000, I bought my farm, Land of Promise Quarter Horses, in Chesapeake so I could realize my dream as a horse farm owner and trainer. Since then I have consistently given lessons, trained horses, given clinics and judged local horse shows as well as running the day to day activities of a 10 stall facility.
Land of Promise Quarter Horses offers a fun and safe learning environment with "safety first" as the motto for both horse and rider. Whether you are learning on our horse or yours I want you to feel comfortable no matter what your level of training. I work with several local barns at their facilities teaching lessons and working with students on their own horses to develop a better working relationship.
Whether, I am working with a young horse getting started under saddle or polishing the more advanced horse, I follow a “ride what you lead” philosophy instilling impeccable ground manners in all my horses as it is necessary for safety and a true relationship of respect.
One of the unique services that I offer is working with new farm/horse owners to make sure their establishment is “horse friendly” and safe. I consult on proper feeding, hay, worming, fencing, daily care, health issues such as: colic, founder and lameness. I eagerly answer any other questions they may have as new farm or horse owner. Additionally, I am well educated on correct saddle fit and offer my services frequently to Sterling Meadow customers for proper saddle fitting for their horse and themselves.
